A true patriot, he is the President of the Flag Foundation of India. He led a campaign to democratize the Tricolour, and his decade-long legal struggle resulted in a historic Supreme Court judgment allowing every Indian to display the Indian Flag with pride on all days of the year.
A well-known Indian industrialist and philanthropist, Mr. Naveen Jindal is the Chairman of Jindal Steel & Power (JSP), one of India’s leading industrial conglomerates in the steel, mining, and infrastructure sectors. His vision is driven by the core principle of nation-building, with each of JSP’s businesses focused on building world-class capabilities to make India self-reliant and a global economic powerhouse. JSP also has operations in Africa and Australia.
He is the founding Chancellor of O. P. Jindal Global University, ranked as the number one private university in India according to the QS World University Rankings 2023. He also serves as President of the Indian Steel Association (ISA), the apex body of the domestic steel industry that works collectively to grow the sector.
In recognition of his accomplishments in industry, politics, and education, Mr. Jindal was conferred with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the University of Texas at Dallas in 2023. He was named Industry Communicator of the Year (2016) by the World Steel Association and featured in Fortune’s list of Asia’s 25 Hottest People in Business. An avid sportsperson, Mr. Jindal is an active polo player and a national record holder in skeet shooting. He is married to Ms. Shallu Jindal, an accomplished Indian classical Kuchipudi dancer and chairperson of the Jindal Steel and Power Foundation. The couple is blessed with two children, Venkatesh and Yashasvini, both Yale graduates. Venkatesh also holds an MBA from Harvard University.
